Ben Affleck is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer known for his wide-ranging career that spans decades. Born in Berkeley, California in 1972 and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he rose to fame in the late 1990s with the breakthrough success of Good Will Hunting, which he co-wrote and starred in alongside childhood friend Matt Damon. The screenplay won them both an Academy Award and launched Affleck into Hollywood stardom.

As an actor, he’s known for leading roles in everything from action hits like Armageddon and The Town, to dramas like Gone Girl, and for taking on iconic roles such as Batman in the DC Extended Universe. His performance and directing work in Argo, which he won the Oscar for Best Picture. In turn becoming another huge turning point in how critics and audiences saw him as more than just an actor.

Ben Affleck is admired for his talent, whether he’s behind the camera or in front of it, Affleck continues to leave a thoughtful, human mark on the stories he helps tell.
